Journey of a Thousand Miles Film was conceived from a place of deep compassion and love. When 12-year-old Perry decided to start animating his dying father Changyou’s life story to inspire him to live, his mom Zhu was so touched that she not only was determined to produce the film , but also started to film Perry, Changyou, and herself to document the journey of making Changyou’s Journey in the hope of telling that story some day. Six years and countless struggles later, Changyou’s Journey premiered at Toronto International Film Festival In 2018, and went on to touch many lives all over the world, winning numerous awards and qualified for the 2019 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
